Product Details

The identity part of KYN□-24 reads position by position: K is metal-clad enclosed switchgear, Y is the withdrawable pattern, N is indoor service, the box is the design code and 24 is the voltage class. The box is not a printing omission — it is filled with the specific design code, and one voltage class can carry more than one design. A complete order designation adds the primary scheme number, operating-mechanism code (D for magnetic, T for spring), rated current and rated breaking current, all settled at quotation.

Position-by-position breakdown of the KYN□-24 type designation

KYN□-24 is metal-clad withdrawable: the cubicle is divided into breaker truck, busbar, cable and relay-instrument compartments, separated by earthed metal partitions, with a pressure relief duct along the roof. The circuit breaker is carried on the truck and is withdrawn as a unit to the test position for maintenance, which confines the work to the truck compartment. At 1000 x 1910 x 2400 mm and 840 to 1500 kg per cubicle, this type is compact for the 24 kV class, so both the switchroom floor area and the floor loading are lighter than for a larger cubicle at the same voltage. ETENZ develops compartment dimensions, truck travel and maintenance access against the confirmed cubicle type.

The primary circuit of a KYN□-24 feeder cubicle runs from the busbar through the upper truck contacts, the circuit breaker, the lower truck contacts, the current transformers and the earthing switch to the cable termination; incomer, bus-tie, metering and auxiliary-transformer cubicles add or remove devices on that basis. With 630 to 3150 A rated current and 20 to 31.5 kA rated breaking and 4 s short-time withstand current, the type covers incoming and outgoing feeders and bus-ties on a 20 kV distribution network. Which scheme a cubicle carries is fixed by the primary scheme number in the order designation, settled cubicle by cubicle at drawing approval together with the operating-mechanism code.

KYN□-24 accepts top entry with top exit, bottom entry with bottom exit and mixed arrangements; the direction follows the cable termination type and the routing on site. The roof-mounted busbar bridge carries the inter-panel connection and the busbar section inside each cubicle follows that cubicle rated current. At 1910 mm the cubicle is far shallower than the 40.5 kV type, which leaves more room for rear cable trays and cable trenches. ETENZ fixes cable terminations, busbar connections, inter-panel links and earthing points on the drawings before manufacture, leaving only the connection work on site.

Protection relays, metering devices, CT/VT and auxiliary supplies are installed, wired and checked circuit by circuit in the works, with all secondary signals brought to one terminal strip. The auxiliary and control circuits are rated DC or AC 110 / 220 V with a 2000 V power-frequency withstand; supply type, voltage and whether a dual supply with changeover is needed are settled at technical specification stage. Everything beyond the terminal strip — the upper-level monitoring system, station control and external I/O — sits on the customer side, with interface type and protocol agreed at the same time.

Supply Scope and Delivery Boundary

All three apply to every order: what is supplied, how far secondary work goes at the works, and which inspection records and documents ship with the cubicles.

Single Cubicle or Complete Lineup Supply

Cubicles are supplied singly or as a complete lineup against the order schedule. Enclosure, main circuit and internal connections are assembled at the works and shipped as complete cubicles; where transport limits apply, the lineup is split and the joining interface is set beforehand. Where the cubicles are to arrive inside a prefabricated cabin, the E-House line takes on the enclosure, internal arrangement and cubicle fixing, and the switchgear is delivered as equipment housed within it.

This covers:
Single cubicle or complete lineup
Complete-cubicle shipment and split points
Joining and fixing interface
In-cabin delivery handled by the E-House line

Product FAQs

Yes. Rated frequency covers both 50 and 60 Hz on this model, the one in the KYN series that gives 60 Hz; the others give 50 Hz only. Frequency drives the matching of instrument transformers, protection relays and operating mechanisms, so it is fixed once at ordering rather than adjusted on site. State the system frequency and rated voltage with the enquiry and the configuration matches first time.

It follows the system voltage. A 20 kV nominal system needs 24 kV equipment; a 10 kV system is served by 12 kV equipment and does not need a step up. The 20 kV distribution network is more common in some overseas markets than at home, and that is where this model mostly goes. A 35 kV system takes KYN61-40.5 instead; the series page carries the full five-model comparison.

The envelope is 1000 wide, 1910 deep and 2400 high; weight runs 840 to 1500 kg, the spread coming from the primary scheme and component fit, with the final figure following the confirmed configuration. Three things are checked together: the switchroom depth has to take the cubicle plus front operating and maintenance space and the truck withdrawal travel, the floor or foundation is checked against the per-cubicle upper figure, and transport and craneage against the whole envelope. Send the switchroom layout and floor loading conditions and it can be confirmed during quotation.

Auxiliary and control circuits are rated DC or AC 110 / 220 V with a 2000 V power-frequency withstand on the secondary circuits. What has to be stated at ordering is the supply type — DC or AC — the voltage level, and whether dual supplies with changeover are required. Those three drive the operating mechanism, protection and signalling selection, and they are fixed once during the technical agreement.

Four things give a preliminary scheme: the single-line diagram, system nominal voltage, system frequency and system fault capacity. For a contract-grade quotation, add the cubicle count with each primary scheme, control supply type and voltage, metering and protection requirements, cable entry arrangement and cable sizes, communication interfaces, switchroom dimensions and floor loading conditions, and the standards and document list for the destination market.

Yes. Switchgear is supplied as equipment while an MV switchgear E-House or power module is supplied as an enclosure — the first is the panel itself, the second covers the enclosure, equipment layout, auxiliary systems and interface integration. This model is compact, so a given module length takes more bays than it would with a larger cubicle type, which is often used during in-module planning. Where it goes inside as the primary equipment, ETENZ details the line-up arrangement, busbar connections and in-module interfaces, and the delivery boundary is settled once at contract stage.
